[Namwon=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Jeong Young-kwon] Namwon City in Jeonbuk announced on the 29th that it will hold various reading culture events throughout October at the Namwon City Library to commemorate Hangeul Day and promote the use of the city library with the participation of local residents.
The event "Hangeul Day Acrostic Poem," where participants create a three-line poem using the Hangeul Day keywords, will be open for submissions from October 4 to 18 to any citizens visiting the library.
Among the submissions during the period, 10 works will be finally selected based on internal evaluation criteria, and winners will receive Namwon Love Gift Certificates worth 10,000 KRW as prizes.
The outstanding works will be posted inside the library starting from October 21.
The "Hangeul Day Commemorative Quiz," which includes OX quizzes and short-answer questions related to Hangeul, is an event where participants answer five Hangeul-related quizzes. Citizens who answer all quizzes correctly will receive prizes on a first-come, first-served basis (86 winners).
Additionally, to reflect on the history and excellence of Hangeul and encourage reading among citizens, the library will operate a book curation titled "Hangeul," exhibiting a total of 33 books (for infants, children, and general readers) for one month at the front shelves on the first floor and the new books corner on the second floor.
A city official said, "We prepared this event to allow everyone to once again feel the value and importance of Hangeul in celebration of the upcoming Hangeul Day on the 9th of next month," and added, "We hope many citizens will show interest and participate in the various programs honoring our beautiful Hangeul."
