The friendly match was held on the 16th at Dongmyung University’s main stadium to promote harmony and raise awareness about developmental disabilities. Activities included getting to know each other, stretching, dribbling, shooting practice, and the soccer game itself.
A student from the Department of Sports Rehabilitation who participated in the friendly match said, “They feel like older brothers and sisters who are no different from us,” and added, “When it comes to sports, everyone’s hearts become one.”
Director Kim Yura said, “I hope this precious meeting between young adults with developmental disabilities and non-disabled young adults helps them realize that rather than being different, they are neighbors who live together with us.”
Department Head Bang Hyun-seok said, “Sports transcend gender and age, allowing everyone to enjoy themselves,” and expressed hope that “these passionate meetings will continue frequently in the future.”
NasaHam FC, the soccer team for people with developmental disabilities, was founded in 2022 to enable adults with developmental disabilities who are interested in soccer to actively participate in the sport rather than just watch.
