View original image[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Jun-kyung] The Education Committee of the Jeonnam Provincial Council is gaining attention for its proactive legislative activities by visiting educational sites in Jangheung and Wando to examine local issues.
According to the Jeonnam Provincial Council on the 22nd, the Education Committee members visited schools and education support offices in the Jangheung and Wando areas over two days starting from the 20th, listening to the status of curriculum operations and encouraging school officials.
This visit was arranged to conduct field-centered legislative activities by collecting opinions from local educational sites to utilize them as legislative activities and policy materials.
The Education Committee members reviewed the integrated operation of kindergartens, elementary, and middle schools in the Jangheung area and the curriculum operation status of Wando Fisheries High School, a Meister high school, and checked the school support projects of the Wando Education Support Office.
They then visited Sinjidong Elementary School and Sinji Elementary School, which is pursuing integration, to hear opinions from the two schools' operation committees and parents, and visited Gogeum Elementary School, designated as a Green Smart Future School, to check the progress of the project.
Chairman of the Education Committee Jo Ok-hyun stated, “Jangheung is a meaningful region that has been operating integrated kindergartens, elementary, and middle schools for 20 years,” adding, “It is expected to become a model for the integration of small schools in Jeonnam in the future.”

He continued, “Wando has a great advantage in operating a residential agricultural and fishing village study abroad program compared to other regions,” and added, “Since Wando also has high personal income, if proper conditions are provided for young people wishing to return to farming and rural areas, it is expected that the young population will increase through agricultural and fishing village study abroad programs.”
