The Changwon City Council of the National Unification Advisory Council Holds Regular Meeting

The Changwon City Council of the National Unification Advisory Council held its third-quarter regular meeting at the Citizen Hall with about 150 advisory members in attendance.

At the meeting, Mayor Hong, acting on behalf of the President who is the chairman, presented appointment letters to 65 newly appointed metropolitan and basic council members of the 20th National Unification Advisory Council.
During the meeting, there was a heated discussion among the advisory members of the Changwon City Council to resolve the North Korean nuclear issue and establish peace on the Korean Peninsula in line with the government's peace and unification policy of "Realizing a Nuclear-free, Peaceful, and Prosperous Korean Peninsula."
Kang Jeom-jong, Chairman of the Council, said in his opening remarks, "North Korea's denuclearization will bring sustainable peace to the Korean Peninsula, Asia, and the world," and pledged, "The Changwon City Council will also carry out various unification movements for the realization of sustainable peace on the Korean Peninsula and work together with advisory members to spread a consensus on unification."

Mayor Hong said, "In the current strained inter-Korean relations, the role of the advisory members here is very important to lead North Korea's denuclearization," and added, "I hope that many bold ideas for realizing peace on the Korean Peninsula will be explored through today's policy discussion."
