[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Gwi-yeol] The Gyeongbuk Provincial Fire Headquarters held the 1st Fire Headquarters Chief Drone Piloting Competition on the 20th to enhance the utilization of fire drones at disaster sites.
This competition, held to improve piloting skills and mission performance of fire drones, featured 22 teams (44 members) from the 119 Special Response Unit and 21 fire stations in the province, with two certified drone operators forming one team to compete.
The main events were conducted in two categories: indoor building navigation and park search.
The results of this competition were: 1st place Kimcheon Fire Station, 2nd place Gyeongju Fire Station, and 3rd place Andong Fire Station.
The two primary pilots from the 1st and 2nd place teams will form one team to represent the Gyeongbuk Fire Headquarters at the 2nd Fire Agency Chief Drone Competition to be held next month.
Fire drones are currently used to assess blind spots at fire scenes and for search and rescue operations at rescue sites. In the future, through research utilizing drones, they are expected to be used for fire suppression and life-saving purposes.
