‘Busan V-Festival’ Volunteer Festival to Take Place!
Happy Busan Created by 950,000 Volunteers! In-Person Normal Event
24th, 10:30 AM?4:00 PM, Song Sang-hyun Square Dynamic Busan Plaza
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Dongguk Lee] Busan City and the Busan Volunteer Center will hold the ‘2022 Busan V-Festival’ at 10:30 AM on the 24th at Song Sang-hyun Square Dynamic Busan Yard.
Started in 2015, the ‘Busan V-Festival’ is the largest volunteer festival in Busan, hosted by 17 volunteer centers with participation from all walks of life. It has been promoted to spread volunteer culture through awarding outstanding volunteers, operating festival yards, and volunteer talent donations.
This year, with social distancing lifted for the first time in three years and the event held face-to-face as normal, volunteer-related organizations and groups in Busan will participate together, preparing various attractions such as experiential activities, celebratory performances, and drone performances, making it a festival where many citizens are expected to join.
The theme of this festival is set as ‘The Power of Citizens! A Happy Future Made Through Volunteering,’ aiming to inspire the meaning of volunteering that has shone even brighter during recent difficult times such as COVID-19.
On the day of the event, volunteer ambassador Poppin Junho and about 500 volunteers will open the festival with a promotional flash mob. Following this, the opening ceremony will feature the awarding of gold badges (to 25 people who have accumulated over 3,000 volunteer hours and over 500 hours in the current year), and a drone performance to rally the will of volunteers for the 2030 Busan World Expo bid.
About 50 institutions and organizations will operate experience booths to welcome citizens. At the booths, diverse volunteer experience activities will be conducted, including volunteer promotion, carbon neutrality (making recycled paper and vegetarian kits), talents (learning braille, sport stacking), health (InBody and blood pressure checks), crafts (making coin wallets and mini bouquets), and healing (nail art, calligraphy).
Side events are also richly prepared, providing volunteer pay when bringing eco-bags or tumblers to practice carbon neutrality, and free drinks will be offered inside the venue.
Various events and activities that anyone can enjoy will be held, such as a flea market where families participate together and donate sales proceeds, and a talent donation performance called ‘Talent-ConSSULt.’
Participation in this event will be certified as volunteer hours through the 1365 Volunteer Portal. Detailed information on event registration and participation methods can be found on the Busan Volunteer Center website.
