"Speeding Up Youth Job Creation" Hyundai Green Food Expands Employment Support Program for Discharged Soldiers
Held Recruitment Briefing for 100 Culinary Specialist Soldiers in Partnership with Army Personnel Command
[Asia Economy Reporter Eunmo Koo] Hyundai Green Food announced on the 22nd that it will hold a ‘Culinary Specialist Recruitment Briefing Session’ at The Hyundai Seoul in collaboration with the Army Personnel Command.
This recruitment briefing session will directly invite a total of 100 culinary specialists scheduled to be discharged from the army who wish to seek employment to The Hyundai Seoul. Along with guidance on the recruitment process, the program includes a tour of Hyundai Green Food’s group meal service sites and dining establishments operating at The Hyundai Seoul, such as the food court, the Italian grocerant ‘Itali,’ the French brunch caf? ‘Loras Blanc,’ and the wine specialty store ‘Wine Works.’
A distinctive feature of this recruitment briefing session is that it leads directly to hiring. After the tour, on-site interviews with the practical team will be conducted immediately, considering the possession of culinary technician certificates (Korean, Western, Japanese, Chinese cuisine) and preferred job roles, to hire as group meal cooks and dining cooks or chefs. The company expects to hire at least 50 employees through this recruitment briefing session.
Hyundai Green Food plans to operate customized training programs by job type for the hired culinary specialists to support their adaptation to the company and development of cooking skills. For employees hired as dining cooks, a ‘Certification Class’ will be run with instructors who have over 10 years of experience to support obtaining culinary technician certificates, and for those hired as group meal cooks, comprehensive training will be provided covering everything from ingredient preprocessing to cooking practice and menu composition.
Since 2019, Hyundai Green Food has been operating a job support program for discharged soldiers in partnership with the Army Personnel Command. Starting with recruitment briefing sessions held directly at military units in 2019, the company participated in army-hosted job fairs in 2020, and held online recruitment briefing sessions for discharged soldiers last year, continuing employment support activities despite the COVID-19 situation. To date, more than 300 culinary specialists from discharged soldiers have been cumulatively hired as cooking staff.
Hyundai Green Food annually recruits about 300 young talents through industry-academia cooperation with the Army Personnel Command, specialized colleges, and vocational high schools. It operates a group meal expert training program focused on field training for culinary students enrolled in about 30 universities nationwide, and also runs a ‘Pre-Chef Training Program’ in collaboration with about 20 vocational high schools with culinary departments to nurture students as dining cooking experts.
Going forward, Hyundai Green Food plans to accelerate youth job creation by strengthening cooperation with these institutions. First, the company intends to regularize the culinary specialist recruitment briefing session held this time to once every half year to enhance employment support for discharged soldiers. Additionally, by next year, the number of universities and vocational high schools involved in industry-academia cooperation will be expanded from the current 50 to 80, and the recruitment job categories will be broadened beyond cooking staff to include sommeliers, patissiers, and more.
