Academic Seminar on "New Perspectives on Goguryeo Capital City Landscape and Defense System" Held
[Asia Economy Reporter Seomideum] The Cultural Heritage Administration's National Research Institute of Cultural Heritage will hold an international academic seminar titled "New Perspectives on the Landscape and Defense System of Goguryeo Fortresses" at 10 a.m. on the 23rd in the auditorium on the first basement floor of the Analysis Science Hall at the National Research Institute of Cultural Heritage.
The event is organized to review the current status of investigations and research on the landscape and defense systems of Goguryeo fortresses in the Hwanren (桓仁) and Jian (集安) regions, and to explore future research tasks and directions.
The seminar consists of one keynote lecture, five thematic presentations, and a comprehensive discussion. In the morning, the keynote lecture titled "Issues of Early and Middle Period Goguryeo Fortresses" (Park Sunbal, Chungnam National University) will be held. This will be followed by two thematic presentations: "Progress and Achievements of Research Projects in Northeast China" (Kim Boram, National Research Institute of Cultural Heritage) and "Review of Controversial Issues Related to Early and Middle Period Goguryeo Fortresses" (Lee Youngsoo, National Research Institute of Cultural Heritage).
In the afternoon, three thematic presentations will follow: "Layout and Landscape of Goguryeo Fortresses in the Hwanren and Jian Regions," "Debates and Spatial Understanding Surrounding Jolbon, the Early Capital of Goguryeo," and "Several Issues Surrounding Jian, the Middle Period Capital of Goguryeo."
After the presentations, a comprehensive discussion will be held with Professor Choi Jongtaek of Korea University as the chair, where presenters and discussants will gather to exchange diverse opinions.
