'Local Decentralization Act-Balanced Development Act Integration Bill' Regional Briefings for Local Governments Held
The First Briefing Session on the 22nd for the Chungcheong Region
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The Ministry of the Interior and Safety and the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy announced on the 21st that they will hold regional briefings for local governments starting from the 22nd regarding the "Special Act on Local Autonomy Decentralization and Regional Balanced Development" to establish an integrated promotion system for decentralization and balanced regional development.
The regional briefing for local governments targeting the Chungcheong area, including Daejeon, Sejong, Chungbuk, and Chungnam, will be held on the 22nd at the Saerom Comprehensive Welfare Center of the Sejong City Social Service Agency. The attendees include heads of departments in charge of decentralization and balanced regional development from cities, provinces, and districts in the Chungcheong area, researchers from Daejeon, Sejong, Chungbuk, and Chungnam, local council members and policy support officers, members of the city/province autonomy decentralization and regional innovation councils, and other interested citizens.
Going forward, the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, together with the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, will continue to hold regional briefings to listen to the voices from local governments regarding the promotion of the integrated bill and actively request cooperation for the prompt passage of the integrated bill in the National Assembly.

Choi Hoon, Director of the Local Autonomy Decentralization Office at the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, stated, “During the legislative notice period for the integrated bill, we will directly listen to various opinions from the field and prepare thoroughly so that the integrated bill reflecting local positions can be discussed in this regular session of the National Assembly.”
