On the 19th at 2 p.m., the city held the first donation ceremony of the Children's Care Foundation in the 8th term of the elected government, attended by Gwangyang Mayor Jeong In-hwa, Kang Yong-jae, Executive Director of the Gwangyang City Children's Care Foundation, company representatives, citizens, and 10 related personnel.
The funds donated this time amounted to a total of 3,687,000 KRW, including 1,000,000 KRW from Geumhwa ENG (Chairman Han Jae-hyun), 1,000,000 KRW from the Jungma-dong Neighborhood Association (Chairman Seo Myung-soo), 1,300,000 KRW from the Donggwangyang Nonghyup Housewives' Association (Chairman Park Hyeong-ae), and 387,000 KRW from Saimdang Daycare Center (Director Seo Jeong-mi) (proceeds from the flea market).
Park Hyeong-ae, chairman of the Donggwangyang Nonghyup Housewives' Association, who has participated in sponsorship for three years, said, “As a citizen of Gwangyang, I take great pride in Gwangyang City's leading childcare policies,” and expressed the hope that “it would be a small help in making Gwangyang a happy city good for raising children.”
Seo Jeong-mi, director of Saimdang Daycare Center, stated, “We donated the proceeds collected from a bazaar held to teach children economic concepts through market play, sharing the joy of giving with the children.”
Kang Yong-jae, executive director, said, “We are grateful for the donation despite the difficult economic situation,” and added, “We hope that continuous support for the Children's Care Foundation will be maintained to achieve the goal of maintaining the population of local cities and improving citizens' quality of life, and to continue implementing essential childcare policies for children.”
Mayor Jeong In-hwa expressed gratitude for the donation, saying, “The role of the Children's Care Foundation has been significant in forming Gwangyang City's external image as a 'city good for raising children.'”
He added, “Going forward, the city will contribute more funds to the foundation to establish a stable operational base for the Children's Care Foundation, aiming to create a city that is good for childbirth and education, and a 'tear-free city' without welfare blind spots.”

Meanwhile, since its establishment, the Children's Care Foundation has had total income of 7.99 billion KRW (2.5 billion KRW from city contributions and 5.49 billion KRW from voluntary donations) and childcare policy project expenditures of 3.257 billion KRW, resulting in a current total asset amount of 4.733 billion KRW.
