[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Dongguk Lee] Busan City will conduct a winter safety inspection of city bus operators within the jurisdiction from October 28 to November 9 to ensure that passengers using city buses can use public transportation safely.
This safety inspection aims to prevent safety accidents involving city buses, a means of public transportation, in preparation for the winter season and to provide citizens with safe and comfortable passenger services. It will be conducted jointly by Busan City, the Korea Transportation Safety Authority, and the Busan City Bus Transportation Business Association, targeting 22 companies and 1,560 buses through on-site visits to each company's garage.
The inspection will focus on ▲engine oil leaks, CNG gas leaks, lighting device operation, tire wear ▲availability of emergency escape devices such as fire extinguishers and emergency hammers ▲passenger convenience facilities such as route maps, announcement devices, and handrails ▲and hygiene safety measures such as hand sanitizer availability and vehicle cleanliness in response to the resurgence of COVID-19.
The city will immediately correct minor issues found on-site and impose administrative measures such as fines for violations of regulations.
By notifying the inspection schedule in advance, the city plans to encourage companies to conduct voluntary pre-inspections, including maintenance of safety devices and upkeep of route map attachments, in preparation for the city's inspection.
A city official stated, “We will continue to do our best to ensure that citizens can use public transportation more safely through systematic inspections of city buses.”
