Innocean Launches 'Digital Signage Advertising' Using Electric Cargo Vehicles
Approved for Regulatory Sandbox Demonstration Exemption
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chunhan] Innocean announced on the 19th that it has received approval for a regulatory sandbox demonstration exemption for 'digital signage advertising using electric cargo trucks.'
Starting in 2023, Innocean will be able to install displays on the sides of electric cargo trucks and broadcast video advertisements, enabling external digital signage advertising on vehicles for 24 months. Although current laws prohibit external digital signage advertising on moving vehicles, receiving regulatory sandbox approval provides an opportunity to test and verify this in the market.
The digital advertisements broadcast on the sides of electric cargo trucks will include public, commercial, and local advertisements. During the demonstration period, Innocean plans to select optimized mobility displays in terms of safety and advertising effectiveness. To ensure safety, advertisements will only be broadcast when the vehicle speed is below 50 km/h, and installed sensors will detect other vehicles entering the right side of the cargo truck to adjust the advertisement broadcast accordingly.
This initiative aims to provide small business owners with highly effective customized advertisements at reasonable prices and to obtain advertising effectiveness measurement results that were previously unattainable with traditional outdoor advertising by utilizing the cargo truck's movement routes. In fact, countries such as China, Turkey, and the United Kingdom are operating external digital signage advertisements on buses, and Japan is conducting digital advertising using vehicle windows such as taxis.
Innocean will also actively collaborate with mobility operators. It plans to form partnerships with mobility service providers, mobility platform operators, data business operators, and advertising effectiveness measurement companies to concretize the mobility digital signage advertising business through demonstration projects. By optimizing effectiveness during the demonstration period, Innocean aims to take a step closer to the official launch of the mobility business model.
