The meeting, chaired by Governor Park Wan-su, was attended by all department heads, mayors, and county heads, who shared inspection results of risk areas and facilities by sector and discussed key management issues.
Governor Park instructed, “Although the typhoon will not directly pass through Gyeongnam, unexpected situations may arise, so public officials should prepare with a mindset of being prepared even if it is somewhat tiring.”
He emphasized, “The disaster management system must be maintained so that immediate action can be taken on-site in case of emergencies, and especially, the response must ensure that not a single life is lost.”

View original imageAfter the meeting, Governor Park, the vice governor, and department heads visited disaster preparedness facilities, construction sites, and coastal lowlands to check the on-site response status by sector.
Governor Park first visited Sokcheon Port in Jinhae-gu to inspect the status of coastal wave protection and the evacuation of fishing boats.
He then visited the Yongwon Drainage Pump Station in Jinhae-gu, Changwon City, which is operating to prevent flooding around Yongwon Fish Market, to check the normal operation of drainage pumps and facility management status, encouraging the officials in charge.
Governor Park ordered, “Please have the cities and counties re-inspect the drainage facilities in coastal areas where flooding damage is feared due to rising water levels to ensure there are no problems.”
Executive Vice Governor Choi Man-rim visited Jangmok Port in Geoje to check the mooring of fishing boats and sheltering status.
Vice Governor Choi requested, “Please operate inspection teams to minimize damage in the fisheries sector and do your best to promote awareness among residents.”
Gyeongnam Province announced that typhoon preliminary warnings from the Korea Meteorological Administration have been issued for 10 cities and counties within the province, including Changwon, Tongyeong, Sacheon, Gimhae, Miryang, Geoje, Yangsan, Haman, Goseong, and Namhae.
The Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters emergency level 1, originally scheduled for 9 a.m. on the 18th, has been activated early from 6 p.m. on the 17th, and on-site situation managers have been dispatched to the cities and counties where the typhoon preliminary warnings were announced.
The dispatched managers are stationed in the respective areas to conduct risk area surveillance, check evacuation facilities, and share information and take action in case of emergencies.
