Lunchflation Boosts Mart Deli Sales... Homeplus Holds Event
[Asia Economy Reporter Jeon Jinyoung] As more customers visit the deli corner of large supermarkets due to lunch inflation, Homeplus announced on the 18th that it will launch a deli discount event targeting this trend.
Homeplus analyzed the changes in major sales at the deli corner over the past month from the 5th of last month to the 4th of this month. The overall deli sales increased by 49% compared to the same period last year, with sales during lunchtime from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. jumping by 64%.
By item, sales of sandwiches and salads, which conveniently replace meals, increased the most by 247%, lunch boxes rose by 189%, and gimbap increased by 111%, showing an overall upward trend.
Accordingly, Homeplus will hold a deli event under the theme of “Affordable and Convenient Meals” until the 21st to overcome lunch inflation. Customers can enjoy a variety of menus at reasonable prices, from meal boxes combining two or more dishes, well-composed salads, to pizzas and chicken that offer both cost-effectiveness and taste.
First, they introduce meal boxes with practical sets priced under 5,000 won. Topping yubu sushi and chicken tender salad, yubu sushi and bulgogi gimbap, and yubu sushi and California roll are sold for 4,990 won.
Fresh salads priced in the 3,000 won range are also prepared. These include the “Jigeumhanki Ricotta Grape Salad” topped generously with sweet grapes and ricotta cheese, the “Jigeumhanki Tofu Cashew Nut Salad” containing savory fried soft tofu and cashew nuts, and the “Jigeumhanki Chicken Tender Salad” topped with tender and mild chicken tenders on vegetables.
Sushi varieties are available at even lower prices through the My Homeplus membership discount. “Norwegian Fresh Salmon Sushi” and “Norwegian Onion Salmon Sushi” are discounted by 3,000 won and offered at 10,990 won.
At the Homeplus Mega Food Market flagship store in Gangseo, which reopened last month after renewal, pizza and teppanyaki corners have been opened. Customers can enjoy four types of “Tongtong Long Pizza” with 50cm dough fully topped starting from 8,990 won, and four types of freshly cooked teppan fried rice and yaki gyoza starting from 2,990 won.
