"Following Bread, Jelly Also Joins Character Craze" GS25's Character Jelly Sales Grow 314%
[Asia Economy Reporter Jeon Jinyoung] Jelly featuring characters is emerging as a popular product in convenience stores.
According to GS25, a convenience store operated by GS Retail, sales data of character jelly from September 1 to 14 showed a significant increase of 314.4% compared to the same period last month.
Looking at the representative character jellies sold by GS25, 'Jjanggu Keyring Jelly' has sold 500,000 units since its release in May, and 'Pokemon Keyring Jelly' has sold over 800,000 units since its release in June. Most of the stock of these imported products was quickly sold out, and additional stock is currently being secured.
The 'Motmalleuneun Jjanggu Jelly' released at the end of July and the two types of 'Catch Tinyping' jelly released in early September have also sold over 400,000 and 100,000 units respectively, showing a hot trend of character jelly in convenience stores.
GS25 analyzes that the popularity of character jelly is mainly due to the use of friendly and cute character images and the inclusion of various character goods (keyrings, stickers). In fact, the Jjanggu Keyring Jelly and Pokemon Keyring Jelly products include keyrings, while the Motmalleuneun Jjanggu Jelly and Catch Tinyping products include stickers.
