National Police Agency, Idea Contest for Best Practices Using Geographic Crime Analysis System
[Asia Economy Reporter Seongpil Cho] The National Police Agency announced on the 18th that it is currently holding an excellent case idea contest utilizing the 'Geographical Profiling System (GeoPros).' GeoPros is a map-based crime analysis system that applies spatial analysis techniques to policing data for use in crime prevention and investigations.
Organized by the National Police Agency to enhance public safety, this contest accepts ideas from police officers nationwide until the 7th of next month. The contest theme is excellent cases of policing activities using GeoPros. In the investigation field, submissions are sought for cases that utilize investigative data analysis to prove crimes, such as apprehending suspects and tracking additional offenses. In the prevention field, cases that utilize analysis of crime hotspots within jurisdictions and crime trend analysis to establish prevention strategies are invited.

The National Police Agency will evaluate and review the submitted ideas over three days starting from the 11th of next month and announce the results on the 14th. Six individuals who receive high scores in the evaluation will be awarded the Commissioner General's Commendation and prizes worth up to 200,000 KRW. The National Police Agency plans to upload the selected winning works on the GeoPros bulletin board for use as educational materials in the future.
