First Monkeypox Case Reported in China... Confirmed During Quarantine
[Asia Economy Reporter Kwak Min-jae] The first confirmed case of monkeypox has been reported in China.
According to China Central (CC) TV on the 16th, Chongqing quarantine authorities stated, "A resident who recently arrived from overseas and was in quarantine for COVID-19 prevention showed symptoms such as rash. After testing, the individual was confirmed to have monkeypox."
The quarantine authorities said, "Since the confirmed case was quarantined immediately upon arrival in Chongqing, the risk of transmission is low," and added, "People who had close contact with the confirmed case are being quarantined and medically observed."
