Attended Reception Invited by President Biden and Korean-American Community Meeting in the United States
[Asia Economy Reporter Ki-min Lee] First Lady Kim Geon-hee, accompanying President Yoon Seok-yeol on his visits to the United Kingdom, the United States, and Canada, will attend the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II at Westminster Abbey in London, UK, on the 19th as an official event.
A senior official from the Presidential Office, speaking to reporters at the Yongsan Presidential Office on the 15th, responded to a question about Kim's schedule during the president's trip by saying, "From the UK's perspective and from our perspective as mourners, we believe it is much more meaningful for the couple to show respect and express condolences together, so I understand that Mrs. Kim will be accompanying him."
In the United States, Mrs. Kim is scheduled to attend diplomatic events alongside the president, including a reception hosted by U.S. President Joe Biden and a meeting with the Korean-American community.
President Yoon will embark on a 7-day, 5-night trip starting on the 18th to the UK, the US, and Canada. In the UK, he will attend Queen Elizabeth II's funeral and then travel to New York to deliver a keynote speech at the United Nations General Assembly.
