In December last year, BPA signed a business agreement with related industries and the private and public sectors to expand the use of circular aggregates and continuously communicated to lay the foundation for promoting resource-circulating port construction.
In May, BPA strengthened eco-friendly resource circulation activities by establishing the 'Guidelines for Promoting the Use of Circular Aggregates, etc.' to expand the use of circular aggregate products in construction projects ordered by Busan Port Authority.
The authority was recognized for contributing to resource circulation by using 279,827 tons of circular aggregates and recycled asphalt concrete in port construction projects, achieving a budget saving effect of about 4 billion KRW, and was selected as the best institution nationwide.
The Ministry of Environment and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport hold the 'Circular Aggregate and Circular Aggregate Recycled Products Excellent Utilization Cases Contest' annually to promote the recycling of construction waste and the activation of high-quality uses of circular aggregates. Participants include national and local governments, public institutions, and private construction companies.
Since 2004, BPA has developed and managed Busan Port as the only self-sufficient aggregate port that promotes port construction using aggregates generated within the new port area.
The authority has contributed to resource circulation of aggregates with the accumulated know-how as a self-sufficient aggregate port.
