Gyeonggi-do Supports Installation of Accessibility Facilities for Disabled at 75 LPG Filling Stations
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Gyeonggi Province is partnering with the LG Welfare Foundation to install accessibility facilities such as restrooms for the disabled and ramps at about 20 LPG filling stations annually.
On the 15th, Gyeonggi Governor Kim Dong-yeon and LG Welfare Foundation CEO Koo Yeon-kyung signed a business agreement at the northern government complex of Gyeonggi Province to create an accessible environment for disabled people at LPG filling stations.
There are a total of 416 LPG filling stations installed in the province. Gyeonggi Province has tentatively identified that LPG filling stations are not legally required to install accessibility facilities under the 'Act on Convenience Promotion for Disabled Persons, etc.', making it inconvenient for disabled people to use restrooms and other facilities at these stations.
According to the agreement, the LG Welfare Foundation will provide full funding of 1 billion KRW annually. Gyeonggi Province and the LG Welfare Foundation will use this to install accessibility facilities such as restrooms for the disabled and ramps at about 20 LPG filling stations every year starting this year.
A preliminary demand survey conducted by the province found that 75 LPG filling stations in the province expressed a desire to install accessibility facilities. The province plans to support the installation of these facilities at these stations over the next 3 to 5 years.

Governor Kim Dong-yeon emphasized, "If one of the differences between disabled and non-disabled people is the restriction of freedom, then what we do for such people is not charity or assistance but a way to make our society sustainable. I am pleased to create sustainable value together with the LG Welfare Foundation. Gyeonggi Province will do its utmost to help."
