On the 15th, the Jungbu Police Station in Seoul arrested a man in his 30s, identified as A, who is accused of stabbing and killing a female subway attendant in the women's restroom at Sindang Station around 9 p.m. the previous day.
According to the police, A and the victim had a past relationship as perpetrator and victim in a criminal case. It is known that A harbored resentment against the victim during the trial process and had been preparing the crime for a long time.
On the day of the crime, A brought the weapon he used at home and wore a disposable sanitary cap before the act. At Sindang Station, he waited for the victim for over 1 hour and 10 minutes before attacking her with the weapon in the women's restroom.
At the time of the crime, another person in the restroom heard the victim's screams and reported it to the police. The victim pressed the emergency bell, and subway attendants rushed over and, together with citizens, apprehended A.
The victim was immediately transported to the hospital but died around 11:30 p.m. A also injured his hand while wielding the weapon and received emergency treatment. He is expected to undergo additional treatment, including suturing surgery.
