Female Subway Station Attendant Attacked in Restroom Dies...Suspected Planned Crime
[Asia Economy Reporter Gong Byung-sun] A female subway attendant on patrol was attacked and killed in a subway station restroom. A man in his 30s who wielded a weapon was apprehended by the police. The police are focusing on the possibility of a premeditated crime in their investigation.
On the 15th, the Jungbu Police Station in Seoul announced that they had arrested a man in his 30s, identified as Mr. A, on suspicion of wielding a weapon against a female subway attendant in a subway station restroom the previous day.
Mr. A followed the victim into the women's restroom in the concourse of Sindang Station on the Seoul subway around 9 p.m. the previous day. According to the police, Mr. A was an acquaintance of the victim, making this a planned crime rather than a random 'no-question' crime targeting an unspecified person. At the time, the victim was patrolling the women's restroom.
After wielding the weapon, three citizens who heard the victim's screams rushed over and apprehended Mr. A. The victim was transported to the hospital in cardiac arrest but died around 11:30 p.m. Mr. A also injured his hand while wielding the weapon and was taken to the hospital as well.
