DB Insurance Supports Platform Delivery Rider Accident Insurance in Partnership with Seoul City
[Asia Economy Reporter Changhwan Lee] DB Insurance announced on the 14th that it is participating in the Platform Delivery Rider Seoul-type Safety Accident Insurance Support Project together with the Seoul Metropolitan Government.
The Platform Delivery Rider Seoul-type Safety Accident Insurance is a product that provides coverage for delivery workers aged 16 and over (with a motorcycle license) residing in Seoul who suffer death, injury, or permanent disability during delivery work. The coverage period is from December 13, 2021, to December 12, 2022.
The accident insurance pays benefits without a separate enrollment process through the platform app if an accident occurs during delivery work using two-wheel vehicles (motorcycles, electric kickboards, (electric) bicycles, etc.) or on foot. It is evaluated to have expanded the scope of benefits as it allows overlapping coverage with existing workers' compensation insurance and personal accident insurance.
The coverage includes a fixed amount of 20 million KRW for death due to traffic accident injury, up to 20 million KRW depending on the grade for permanent disability (3~100%) from traffic accident injury, 300,000 KRW for surgery due to traffic accident injury, 200,000 KRW for fracture diagnosis, and 2 million KRW for hit-and-run and uninsured vehicle injury death or permanent disability.
To apply for insurance benefits, the insured delivery rider or their representative must submit the required documents after the accident (proof of delivery work, medical certificate, application form, etc.) through the Platform Delivery Rider Seoul-type Safety Accident Insurance dedicated call center, email, or KakaoTalk channel (#Platform Delivery Rider Seoul-type Safety Accident Insurance). Insurance benefits are paid within 3 business days, and claims can be made within 3 years from the date of the accident.
