[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The largest festival of community sports, the "2022 Seoul Citizens Sports Festival," is returning, open to all Seoul citizens who love community sports, from youth to seniors, club members, and the general public.
On the 14th, Seoul City announced that the Seoul Citizens Sports Festival will be held from the 17th to the 18th at 11 venues including Jamsil Indoor Gymnasium and auxiliary stadiums. This event, held for the first time in three years due to the spread of COVID-19, will feature a total of 23 sports with 8,000 participants. In addition to club sports requiring a certain level of skill, recreational citizen participation events have also been prepared.
The opening ceremony, marking the start of the festival, will take place on the 17th at Jamsil Indoor Gymnasium. Before the ceremony, there will be spectacular congratulatory performances by trot singer 'Seol Ha-yoon' and street dance group 'M.B. Crew.' The main event will feature the entrance of athlete delegations from 25 autonomous districts and a media performance, creating a grand opening event.
Following the opening ceremony, competitions for 23 sports will be held at 11 venues including Jamsil Indoor Gymnasium, auxiliary stadiums, and futsal courts. Club sports include 9 events such as calisthenics, table tennis, badminton, and park golf, while citizen participation events include 14 events such as group jump rope, jegichagi, yutnori, and relay games.
Additionally, various side events and experience programs will be operated to allow participants to fully enjoy exercise, making it a healthy festival united through community sports. Highlights include the 'New Sports Experience Zone' where unique sports can be tried, the highly popular 'Arcade Game Zone' for children, the 'Sports Trick Art Photo Zone' for capturing memorable shots, and face painting, all enhancing the festive atmosphere.
