Jeonnam Fire Department Conducts an Average of 391 Firefighting Activities Daily During Chuseok Holiday

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] The Jeonnam Fire Headquarters (Chief Kim Joil) announced on the 13th that during the 5-day special Chuseok holiday alert duty, a total of 1,955 firefighting activities (an average of 391 per day) were carried out.
They rescued 29 people and provided emergency treatment to 1,324 people before transporting them to hospitals.
This is a 28% decrease compared to the 2,718 firefighting activities during the 6-day special Chuseok holiday alert duty last year. Even considering the shorter holiday period this year, the daily average decreased by 13.6%, from 453 to 391 cases.
Fires decreased by 46.8% (15 cases), from 32 last year to 17 this year, and casualties also decreased from 2 injuries to 1.
Property damage decreased by 72% (?195.11 million), from ?269 million to ?73.88 million.
By cause of fire, careless fires decreased from 17 cases last year to 10 cases, and electrical fires decreased from 11 cases to 1 case.
Rescue dispatches were 659 cases, down 48% from 1,269 cases last year, and emergency dispatches were 1,279 cases, down 9.7% from 1,417 cases last year.
While emergency dispatches were similar to last year, rescue dispatches such as beehive removal decreased significantly from 778 cases last year to 249 cases, and animal capture dispatches also decreased from 148 cases to 61 cases.
From 6 p.m. on the 8th to 6 a.m. on the 13th, a total of 9,186 119 emergency calls (an average of 1,837.2 per day) were received, including 249 fire cases, 1,024 rescue cases, 2,287 emergency medical cases, and 2,390 medical consultations.
In reality, in Munnae-myeon, Haenam, a careless fire completely destroyed two warehouses and houses, causing an estimated damage of ?35 million according to the fire station. In Seokhyeon-dong, Mokpo, a single-car accident resulted in one death and one injury, with the injured person transported to the hospital.
The Jeonnam Fire Headquarters made efforts to ensure the safety of residents during the holiday period by conducting special fire inspections of multi-use facilities and fire safety consulting for fire-vulnerable facilities before the Chuseok holiday, deploying firefighting forces in advance, strengthening mobile patrols, and mobilizing personnel and firefighting equipment.
