Grand Prize, Best Award, Excellence Award ... Pukyong National University Sweeps Busan Regional Patent Strategy Competition
Students from Pukyong National University are taking a group commemorative photo after receiving the Grand Prize, Excellence Award, and Merit Award at the Busan Regional Patent Strategy Competition.
View original image[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Doo-yeol] Students from Pukyong National University recently swept the grand prize, excellence award, and merit awards at the '2022 Busan Regional Patent Strategy Competition' held at Dongwon Jangbogo Hall of Pukyong National University.
The competition was hosted by the Korean Intellectual Property Office, Busan City, and the Korea Invention Promotion Association, and was organized by the Busan Intellectual Property Center and Pukyong National University.
The team of second-year students majoring in Industrial Chemistry at Pukyong National University, Kim Haeri, Shin Yujin, and Lee Juyeon, received the highest recognition for their outstanding patent strategy idea, winning the grand prize, the Korea Invention Promotion Association President's Award, and a prize of 1 million KRW.
The students reviewed market trends and investigated related patent trends for industrial safety gloves with puncture resistance, a problem presented by Jangmi Rubber Industry. They selected key patents and proposed appropriate patent strategies to the company, earning high praise.
The team of fourth-year Chemistry majors Heo Jaesung, Park Jiyoung, and Moon Jihyun received the Excellence Award and a prize of 750,000 KRW from the Busan Regional Small and Medium Venture Business Administration.
The teams of fourth-year Chemistry major Choi Jiwon and second-year Nano Convergence Engineering major An Dongyun, as well as second-year Smart Green Technology Convergence Engineering major An Hyunwoo, third-year Food and Nutrition major Han Nara, and Shin Yesul, received the Merit Award and a prize of 500,000 KRW.
Now in its fifth year, the Busan Regional Patent Strategy Competition is a contest where companies present problems and university (graduate) students from local universities propose creative patent strategies to compete.
This year, a total of 41 teams and 103 participants from Busan area universities including Pukyong National University competed, targeting Busan City's seven strategic industries. They competed with patent strategy ideas based on problems presented by 15 Busan-based companies such as Jangmi Rubber Industry, Conotech, and The Cook Korea.
