Court Changes 4th Injunction Hearing to 28th Following 'Interrogation Date Change' Request (Comprehensive)
[Asia Economy reporters Lee Ji-eun and Kwon Hyun-ji] The People Power Party received the notice for the preliminary injunction hearing date for former leader Lee Jun-seok, scheduled for the 14th, only on the previous day, the 13th, and applied for a change of the hearing date. The court accepted this and changed the hearing date for the 4th preliminary injunction to the 28th.
The People Power Party stated that they received the notice of the hearing date along with the 4th preliminary injunction application around 10:30 a.m. that day.
The party said, "The court designated and notified the hearing date as 11 a.m. tomorrow (September 14), but the party needs at least some time to prepare for the hearing, including appointing legal representatives and drafting responses to new claims different from previous preliminary injunction cases." Therefore, "this afternoon, we submitted an application to change the hearing date to the 51st Civil Division of the Seoul Southern District Court."
In response, the Southern District Court postponed the hearing date for the 4th preliminary injunction by two weeks. The court stated, "The debtors applied for a change of the hearing date today, and the court accepted it, changing the date to 11 a.m. on the 28th." However, the hearing dates for the 2nd preliminary injunction against former emergency committee chairman Joo Ho-young and other previous emergency committee chairmen, the objection to the 1st preliminary injunction, and the injunction prohibiting the 3rd national committee meeting remain on the 14th.
The 28th is also the day the People Power Party's Ethics Committee will convene. The Ethics Committee plans to hold a plenary meeting on the 28th to hear explanations from lawmakers Kim Seong-won, Kwon Eun-hee, and Kim Hee-guk, who were involved in controversies over 'inappropriate remarks during flood relief volunteer activities.' There is also a possibility that additional disciplinary actions against former leader Lee will be discussed at this meeting.

Meanwhile, related to this, Lee Jun-seok's side filed a main lawsuit regarding the 3rd and 4th preliminary injunctions on the same day. Upon hearing the news that the People Power Party would postpone the hearing date, Lee wrote on social networking services (SNS) the previous day, "They probably will ask to postpone the preliminary injunction hearing date after thinking about it all through Chuseok. No matter what, it’s nothing less than that."
