Rural Maintenance Projects in Buyeo, Cheongyang, and Seocheon, Chungnam 'Spatial Reorganization'
[Asia Economy (Hongseong) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] Buyeo, Cheongyang, and Seocheon counties in Chungnam are reorganizing spaces through rural maintenance projects.
Chungnam Province announced on the 13th that three counties, including Buyeo, were selected in the recent Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs' public contest for the 'Rural Spatial Maintenance Project,' securing a budget of 47.9 billion KRW, including 22.5 billion KRW in national funds.
The Rural Spatial Maintenance Project was introduced last year. Its purpose is to improve living conditions in a total of 400 rural areas by 2031.
In the first round of the contest, four districts were selected as project targets: Naryeong-ri in Eunsan-myeon, Buyeo County; Eupnae-ri area in Cheongyang County; and in the second round, Hongwon Village in Dodun-ri and Daemagul Village in Hwaseong-ri, Seocheon County.
According to the selection results, Buyeo County plans to invest 15 billion KRW by 2026 in two areas: improving residential environments through demolition and utilization of livestock barns (maintenance district), and creating infrastructure for relocation and concentration of livestock barns (relocation district).
Cheongyang County will spend 8.5 billion KRW by 2026 to renovate long-abandoned facilities and vacant houses to create a new urban image. Within the project area, 67 public and abandoned houses have remained, and discussions have been ongoing for a long time to utilize these deteriorating buildings that impair the landscape.
The maintenance will focus on enhancing residents' quality of life by demolishing vacant houses and simultaneously creating a children's playground, a pet playground, the Jicheon Cultural Space, and a lawn plaza, aiming for "Cheongyang Jicheon Cultural Park with beautiful scenery and happy spaces."
Daemagul Village will invest 9 billion KRW in rural spatial reorganization, including demolition of livestock barns, to realize "Hwaseong 1-ri, Seocheon County's No. 1 village for returnees to farming and rural areas and a happy village."
Hongwon Village in Seocheon County plans to invest 15.4 billion KRW by 2026 in demolishing transmission towers and village maintenance, aiming for "Hongwon Village, a healing land advancing as a marine tourism village."
