"Remote Work at Resorts" BAT Rothmans Introduces 'Workation' Work System
‘3-Day Vacation + 2-Day Remote Work’ Program for Vacationers... 1.2 Million KRW Support per Employee
Pilot Program Runs Until October, Official Launch in 2023
[Asia Economy Reporter Eunmo Koo] Global tobacco company BAT Rothmans announced on the 13th that it will introduce a ‘Workation (Work+Vacation)’ program to allow employees to enjoy work and vacation together.
BAT Rothmans’ Workation program was introduced to strengthen flexible working hours and provide employees with an efficient working environment. Workation is a work style that combines work and rest simultaneously at travel destinations instead of a fixed workplace, as part of efforts to create a ‘great place to work.’
First, for the Workation system, the BAT Group will introduce a pilot program selecting 5 participants from regular employees who have worked for at least 3 months. The selected employees will stay at a vacation spot for 5 days until next month, taking 3 days of annual leave and 2 days of remote work. Each participant will receive a support fund of 1.2 million KRW.
Employees participating in the pilot program will submit a short video documenting their Workation schedule, which will later be used as a guide video for Workation. Additionally, after this program ends, feedback will be collected and improvements made to officially launch the program next year, establishing a work environment that meets global standards.
