Yongsan-gu, Creation of Green Art Path under Banpo Bridge Overpass
[Seoul District News] Installation of Multipurpose Stand, Symbolic Sculpture, Symbolic Table, and Planting Planters in Idle Space (3m Wide, 30m Long, Total Area 90㎡) at 180-7, Seobinggo-dong, Yongsan-gu
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Yongsan-gu (Mayor Heeyoung Park) will break ground on the 13th to create the 'Green Art Road' under the Banpo Bridge overpass.
This is the so-called 'Ban-Ha-Gil' project. It is an abbreviation of the road under the Banpo Bridge overpass and carries the meaning of 'falling in love with the Green Art Road.' Through this project, the unused space of the underground passage at the north end of Jamsu Bridge will be reborn as a distinctive community space.
The purpose is not only to serve as a resting place for residents but also to improve the roadside aesthetics.
The construction period is from September 13 to the end of October. The district completed the design service in June and finished consultations with related organizations and design reviews.
A total construction cost of 130 million KRW (city funds) will be invested to install a multipurpose stand, symbolic sculptures, 10 symbolic tables, and 2 planting planters.
The multipurpose stand is the main feature. Taking advantage of the site’s 5-6% slope, it adds fun as a walking path, and art forms finished with clay bricks will be installed around it to enhance sculptural beauty.
On top of the multipurpose stand, a sculpture symbolizing the Green Art Road will be erected. Symbolic tables will also be installed throughout the area to provide convenience to visitors.
Planting planters will be installed around the art forms, where various species (including 13 types such as Sansuhydrangea) that can grow in shaded areas will be planted, considering the environment under the overpass where sunlight is limited.
'Ban-Ha-Gil' is the first pilot project of the 'Overpass Underpass Green Art Road Creation Project' promoted by Seoul City. Earlier this year, the city decided to create a three-dimensional urban greening space by utilizing underpasses in the city center and held a contest for target sites. The 'Banpo Bridge Overpass' proposed by Yongsan-gu was selected.
