Incheon Chuseok Holiday Traffic Accidents Decrease by 55.9%... 5 Major Crimes Increase by 3.8%
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyesook] The number of traffic accidents that occurred in Incheon during this year's Chuseok holiday significantly decreased compared to last year.
According to the Incheon Metropolitan Police Agency on the 12th, the average daily number of traffic accidents in Incheon from September 9 to 12, the Chuseok holiday period, was 8.3 cases, a 55.9% decrease from 18.8 cases the previous year.
Previously, the Incheon Metropolitan Police Agency implemented traffic measures by focusing on managing congested holiday locations such as large marts, traditional markets, and department stores, and operated a comprehensive traffic control center during the holiday period.
However, the number of fatalities due to traffic accidents during this Chuseok holiday was recorded as one case, the same as last year.
Additionally, the five major crimes that occurred in Incheon during the holiday period averaged 56.9 cases per day, a 3.8% increase compared to 54.8 cases the previous year. There were no cases of murder or robbery, while daily averages of 5.1 cases of violence, 18.5 cases of theft, and 2.8 cases of sexual crimes such as molestation were reported.
The police strengthened pre-monitoring of households with concerns of recurrence in preparation for an expected increase in crimes against socially vulnerable groups such as domestic violence and child abuse during the holiday period. The number of domestic violence reports to 112 during this period averaged 69.3 cases per day, a slight decrease of 3.2% compared to 71.6 cases the previous year.
