Non-face-to-face Gift Sales Increase by 50%
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chunhan] As high inflation continues this year, sales of practical food and daily necessities as Chuseok gifts have significantly increased.
According to SSG.com on the 13th, food accounted for the highest sales proportion among gift sets. In particular, fresh food sales increased by about 15% compared to last year. Shine Muscat grape sets, apple mango, and mixed sets of apples and pears ranked 2nd and 5th in fruit gift sales respectively, and sales of dried persimmons and semi-dried persimmon products increased by 30%. Sales of grain gift sets, including rice, also rose by 20%.
Sales of daily necessities sets showed a high growth rate exceeding 70%. Comprehensive sets composed of various essential items such as body wash, shampoo, and toothpaste accounted for the highest sales proportion. Additionally, premium toothpaste brands like Dentiste and gray hair shampoo brands such as LG Household & Health Care and Modamoda ranked among the top sellers.
Non-face-to-face gift service sales also grew by 50% compared to the previous year, continuing the growth trend. Sales in the pet category increased more than fourfold, and sales in the digital home appliances category, including massage chairs, rose by 90%.
