Gochang-gun Selected for 'World Heritage Media Art Project' Hosted by Cultural Heritage Administration

[Gochang=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jaegil] On the 8th, Jeonbuk Gochang-gun announced that the ‘Gochang Dolmen Site World Heritage Media Art,’ which was selected this year, has been selected again next year for the ‘2023 World Heritage Media Art Project’ hosted by the Cultural Heritage Administration.

This year, the scope of the contest was expanded from World Heritage sites to nationwide cultural assets, and among the 19 projects selected through the first screening, 8 projects including Gochang-gun were finally selected.

The World Heritage Media Art contest project is a national contest project that develops content to promote the universal value of World Heritage sites using various cutting-edge technologies.

The county plans to build media art and operate events using various advanced technologies such as projection mapping and LED lighting.

In particular, the county plans to easily promote the Gochang Dolmen Site, a representative heritage of the region, by combining World Heritage and media digital IT technology, and to foster it as a representative content for local tourism.

With a total project cost of 1.74 billion KRW, various media art contents will be produced that visitors can directly experience and feel from the Dolmen Museum to the dolmen site.

They plan to express the land of dolmens from 3,000 years ago through various programs.

A county official said, “This year’s contest expanded the project target to cultural assets nationwide, resulting in fierce competition, but being selected for two consecutive years is thanks to the value of the Gochang Dolmen Site recognized worldwide,” and added, “We will prepare systematically to foster it as a representative local tourism content and revitalize the local economy.”

Meanwhile, this year’s World Heritage Media Art will be held from the 1st to the 29th of next month at the Gochang Dolmen Site and Dolmen Museum area, where a beautiful media show themed ‘Miracle of Twilight’ will be presented using various video technologies.
