Wando-gun Delivers Safety Keeper Packages to 2,000 Elderly Care Households

[Wando=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Gongpil] On the 7th, Wando-gun, Jeollanam-do announced that it will deliver ‘Safety Keeper Packages’ containing rapid antigen kits, antibacterial tissues, masks, and more to 2,000 elderly households receiving customized care for the Chuseok holiday.

This consolation event was prepared so that the elderly can have a safe Chuseok holiday, hosted by the Wando-gun branch of the Korea Senior Citizens Association and the Wando Regional Self-Support Elderly Customized Care Center, with participation from the Wando-gun Happiness Welfare Foundation.

From the 6th to the 8th, 102 life support workers from the towns and townships will visit the homes of elderly people who have difficulty moving or live alone to deliver the packages, and will also conduct the ‘Elderly Safety Keeper Program’ to help prevent COVID-19 and assist with COVID-19 self-diagnosis.

An elderly person in Geumil-eup said after receiving the package, “My children were coming to visit after a long time, so I was worried about COVID-19 infection, but I am very grateful that the life support worker brought me a self-diagnosis kit and masks like this.”

Shin Woo-cheol, the mayor of Wando-gun, said, “This is a time when neighbors need more attention than ever, so I hope it will be a warm Chuseok where we can share kindness,” and urged, “As many people are expected to travel during the Chuseok holiday, please be sure to get a COVID-19 test when visiting your hometown or traveling outside the area to prevent the spread of COVID-19.”
