LocknLock Unveils 'Love for Planet Goods' in Celebration of Resource Circulation Day
[Asia Economy Reporter Kwak Minjae] Lock&Lock announced on the 6th that it will introduce the ‘2022 Love for Planet’ goods in celebration of Resource Circulation Day.
This year, Lock&Lock produced a ‘Camping Box’ as part of the Love for Planet goods. The camping box was reborn by utilizing old plastic airtight containers voluntarily collected by citizens and leftover plastic scraps from the manufacturing process. A Lock&Lock representative explained, “It carries the meaning of hoping that people will protect the Earth generously even during camping.”
The Lock&Lock upcycling camping box can be folded for storage, boasting high space efficiency during transport and storage. The lid has a cup holder and space to securely place food, making it usable as a portable tray. It can be used not only for outdoor activities such as camping but also indoors for organizing items.
Lock&Lock has declared its 2050 carbon neutrality goal and is making efforts to practice energy management. To reduce disposable waste, it is promoting the culture of using reusable products such as food storage containers and tumblers. Furthermore, it has been running the year-round resource circulation campaign Love for Planet for over three years to ensure smooth circulation of used products.
This campaign collects old plastic airtight containers from various local communities and transforms them into daily necessities and public facilities. Based on customer participation, Lock&Lock has operated a total of 103 participation bases in collaboration with public institutions, social enterprises, and civic groups. So far, about 2 tons of plastic airtight containers have been collected, which corresponds to approximately 18,200 containers of 480ml capacity.
Lock&Lock is collaborating with Jeju Olle to install upcycled public facilities, providing resting places for Jeju residents and travelers. Over the past three years, more than 30 ‘Mojak Benches’ have been installed along various Jeju Olle Trail courses. The name ‘Mojak’ comes from the Jeju dialect meaning ‘knot.’ It signifies that objects, people, and nature are all connected, and that protecting nature well is equivalent to protecting people well.
