Operation of 'Smart Eco Shelter' at Cheonho Station Central Bus Stop in Gangdong-gu
Operation of Smart Eco Shelter in Cheonho Station Central Bus Lane from the First Bus on the 3rd to Improve Resident Convenience by Alleviating Discomfort Caused by Heatwaves, Fine Dust, and Severe Cold
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Gangdong-gu (Mayor Lee Soo-hee) announced on the 3rd that it has installed a ‘Smart Eco Shelter’ at the central bus stop at Cheonho Station intersection to enhance the convenience of residents using public transportation, and began operation from the first bus.
All devices inside the ‘Smart Eco Shelter’ are controlled in real-time through integrated control, and based on TOPIS, Seoul’s traffic information system, it manages ▲designated stopping positions ▲screen door opening and closing ▲heating and cooling device control in an integrated manner, enabling efficient operation tailored to the situation.
In particular, it is expected to greatly improve residents’ inconvenience by allowing safe and comfortable use, protected from dust, noise, and harmful substances generated by vehicles on the central bus lane road.
With the operation of the ‘Smart Eco Shelter’ on the central bus lane at Cheonho Station starting from the 3rd, the temporary roadside bus stops at Cheonho Station exits 5 and 6, which were used during the construction period, have been closed and the central bus stop operation has resumed.
Considering that the central bus lane at Cheonho Station has the highest traffic volume and is a habitual congestion section in Gangdong-gu, the district office simultaneously started construction at two locations, upstream and downstream, to minimize residents’ inconvenience caused by the installation work and to shorten the construction period.
Previously, the district office had piloted the installation of Smart Eco Shelters at two roadside bus stops near Cheonho Station and Gangdong-gu Office Station last year, receiving high praise from residents.
Additionally, installation work is underway at three roadside bus stops: ▲Gangdong Art Center · Gangdong Kyunghee University Hospital ▲Sangil-dong Station Exit 4 · Central Prugio ▲Cheonho Station Hyundai Department Store · Labor Rights Center, with operation scheduled for mid-September.
Furthermore, by the end of this year, two more Smart Eco Shelters are planned to be installed at roadside bus stops at ▲Gubeundari Station Community Center · Gangdong Homeplus ▲Seoul Seongnae Post Office.
Besides the Smart Eco Shelters, the district operates Gangdong-style design boarding platforms reflecting local characteristics at Gangdong Art Center and Central Veterans Hospital Station, and is making every effort to improve urban aesthetics and public transportation convenience by fully replacing 164 aging benches, expanding BIT (Bus Arrival Information Terminals), and installing heated seats to prepare for cold waves.
