Naju-si, SRF Citizen Briefing Tentatively Postponed Due to Typhoon 'Hinnamnor' Approaching
[Naju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yukbong] Jeollanam-do Naju City (Mayor Yoon Byung-tae) announced on the 5th that the 'Citizen Briefing Session for Resolving Issues of the Naju SRF Combined Heat and Power Plant,' which was scheduled to be held at the Culture and Arts Center, has been tentatively postponed due to the approach of Typhoon 'Hinnamnor.'
Mayor Yoon Byung-tae held an emergency meeting with the responsible department that morning and made the final decision to postpone the briefing session, prioritizing citizen safety amid the approach of the super typhoon.
A city official stated, "This decision was made to focus disaster response administrative power on prioritizing citizen safety in this serious situation with the super typhoon approaching," and added, "The briefing session schedule will be communicated to citizens as soon as possible through consultation."
The tentatively postponed briefing session was planned as an opportunity to share future response measures with citizens following the realization of the operation of the SRF power plant after the Supreme Court appeal ruling on the 'Cancellation of Refusal to Approve Business Commencement Report' lawsuit filed by Korea District Heating Corporation against Naju City on June 30.
Considering the growing concerns among citizens about securing health rights due to the operation of the power plant, the city plans to explain the major progress such as administrative actions and legal lawsuits so far, and to collect various opinions from citizens to derive reasonable alternatives and future directions.
