Air and sea routes have been closed, and school classes are expected to be operated as discretionary holidays.
The Korea Railroad Corporation held an emergency meeting yesterday (4th) morning to check train safety operation measures in response to the approaching typhoon. Sections prone to disasters will be inspected in advance by deploying inspection trains before regular train operations to ensure safety, and if train operations are adjusted, real-time updates will be provided through services like KORAIL Talk.
High-speed lines such as KTX will suspend operations if winds exceed 45 m/s or rainfall exceeds 60 mm per hour. For regular lines, operations will be suspended if winds exceed 30 m/s or rainfall exceeds 65 mm per hour.
Airports nationwide are also preparing for Typhoon Hinnamnor. The Korea Airports Corporation, which manages 14 airports nationwide, is operating a 'Wind and Water Disaster Situation Room' until the typhoon situation ends. Incheon International Airport currently has about 760 personnel on emergency duty, monitoring the typhoon's path in real time and operating a 24-hour control center. Incheon Airport Corporation stated that once a typhoon warning is issued, aircraft will be secured and construction materials that could be blown away by strong winds will be fastened.
As Typhoon Hinnamnor moves north toward Jeju, tourists flocked to Jeju International Airport from the morning of the 4th to return in anticipation of flight cancellations. Meanwhile, the arrival hall at Jeju Airport has been quiet since early this month when reports began indicating the typhoon would directly affect Jeju. Currently, Jeju, Busan, and Yeosu airports are securing aircraft and structures parked on the runways. Hallasan National Park has completely closed seven hiking trails. Additionally, beaches, mountain trails, and Olle trails are all closed to the public.
The sea routes to and from Jeju Island are currently fully closed. On the 4th, all passenger ferries to and from Jeju were canceled except for the early departure from Jeju Port to Mokpo at 8 a.m. A strong wind advisory is in effect across Jeju Island, and a heavy rain advisory is in effect in mountainous areas.
