Typhoon 'Hinnamnor' Approaches North... Ministry of the Interior and Safety: "Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters Activated, All Emergency Personnel and Resources Mobilized"
[Asia Economy Reporter Minji Lee] To respond to the super typhoon ‘Hinnamnor,’ the Ministry of the Interior and Safety announced that as of 10 a.m. on the 3rd, the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters will be activated, and the typhoon and heavy rain crisis alert level will be raised from 'Interest' to 'Caution.'
At 10 a.m. on the same day, the Ministry held a countermeasure meeting with related agencies to communicate key management points for typhoon preparedness and ordered an all-out response to minimize casualties.
Additionally, following President Yoon Seok-yeol’s directive for preemptive typhoon response measures, the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters activated Level 1 and raised the crisis alert level to 'Caution.'
Typhoon Hinnamnor is expected to make landfall around 9 a.m. on the 6th, approximately 70 km southwest of Busan. The typhoon’s strength is projected to be greater than when Typhoon Sarah in 1959 or Typhoon Maemi in 2003 made landfall.
