Kim Geun-sik, Raped 11 Minor Female Students... To Be Released Next Month After 15 Years Imprisonment
[Asia Economy Reporter Heo Kyung-jun] Kim Geun-sik (54), who was sentenced to 15 years in prison for serial sexual assault of minors and is scheduled to be released next month after serving his sentence, will be fitted with an electronic ankle bracelet and assigned a dedicated probation officer for 24-hour close monitoring.
The Ministry of Justice announced on the 2nd, "Electronic monitoring will be enforced at a probation office under the Ministry of Justice from the day Kim Geun-sik is released next month."
Since May, the Ministry of Justice has established a management plan for Kim Geun-sik after his release, including ▲monthly preliminary meetings to identify any unusual circumstances during imprisonment and plans after release, ▲designation as a one-on-one electronic monitoring subject, and ▲considering his past criminal methods, preemptive measures such as adding a compliance requirement of ‘no contact with females under 19 years old’ to completely block Kim Geun-sik from approaching minor females.
Additionally, a dedicated probation officer will be assigned solely to supervise Kim Geun-sik, conducting 24-hour intensive surveillance and management from the day of his release. To prevent recidivism, customized compliance requirements will be added as needed, along with psychological therapy to improve criminal tendencies and support for social adaptation.
On the day of his release, his photo and personal information, including his actual residence, will be disclosed on the internet site ‘Sex Offender Notification e’.

Kim Geun-sik was indicted on charges of sexually assaulting 11 minor female students aged 9 to 17 in Incheon and the Gyeonggi area from May 24 to September 11, 2006, under the Act on the Punishment of Sexual Crimes and Protection of Victims, and was sentenced to 15 years in prison.
