Gwangyang Economic Zone Authority Holds Meeting to Expedite Industrial Complex Development

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Heo Seon-sik] The Gwangyang Bay Area Free Economic Zone Authority (Commissioner Song Sang-rak, hereinafter GFEZ Authority) announced that on the 1st, it held a 'GFEZ Development Project Progress Meeting' at the GFEZ Authority Situation Room to review the progress of infrastructure projects such as industrial complex development and access roads.

The projects under review include seven infrastructure projects: the under-construction Hwanggeum Industrial Complex (1.12 million ㎥), Sepung Industrial Complex (2.42 million ㎥), Haeryong Industrial Complex (1.59 million ㎥), Yulchon II Industrial Complex (3.79 million ㎥), and the Sepung Industrial Complex access road scheduled for completion in October.

The meeting was organized by the head of the GFEZ Authority Development Department and attended by relevant officials, project implementers, and on-site chief engineers to inspect overall project aspects such as progress rates, budget execution, compensation and relocation status, causes of delays and solutions, and administrative procedure progress.

Going forward, by sharing information among project sites, they plan to actively seek solutions through administrative support for delayed projects and continue efforts to ensure timely supply of industrial land.

A GFEZ Authority official stated, “We will proceed with the development of industrial complexes and infrastructure as planned, and especially with the upcoming Chuseok holiday, we will strive to resolve wage and equipment payment arrears.” He added, “In particular, in accordance with the Serious Accidents Punishment Act, we will strengthen pre-inspections to prevent industrial accidents at construction sites.”
