[Asia Economy Sejong=Reporter Lee Junhyung] The government has agreed on a joint declaration at the G20 Energy Ministers' Meeting, focusing on the expansion of renewable energy.
The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy announced that Second Vice Minister Park Iljun attended the G20 Energy Ministers' Meeting via video conference on the 2nd. This meeting was organized for G20 member countries to discuss cooperation measures to expand clean energy such as renewable energy. The member countries agreed on the 'G20 Energy Ministers' Joint Declaration' and committed to continuous cooperation for carbon neutrality and other goals.
At the meeting, G20 member countries shared the need to strengthen energy supply chains and security. Accordingly, the members discussed clean energy technology development, expanding energy accessibility for vulnerable groups, clean energy investment, and financial support.
Vice Minister Park introduced the Yoon Seok-yeol administration's energy policy to the G20 members. He stated, "We will actively utilize nuclear power generation along with other power sources as an important means to strengthen energy security and achieve carbon neutrality," adding, "Considering domestic energy demand and conditions, we will continue to expand the development and dissemination of clean energy technologies such as hydrogen."

Vice Minister Park also emphasized cooperation among G20 member countries. He said, "The core to accelerating clean energy is batteries and electric vehicles," and added, "It is necessary to establish an intergovernmental cooperation system to strengthen the supply chain of critical minerals required for these industries." He continued, "As part of investment in the clean energy sector, Korea established a hydrogen fund worth 500 billion won in July," and added, "We are also promoting financial support for related investment projects."
