Renault Korea Sells 11,622 Units in August, Up 31.4% Year-on-Year
Domestic Sales 3,950 Units, Exports 7,672 Units
[Asia Economy Reporter Kiho Sung] Renault Korea Motors announced on the 1st that it achieved a total sales performance of 11,622 units in August, with 3,950 units sold domestically and 7,672 units exported, marking a 31.4% increase compared to the same period last year.
In the domestic market in August, the mid-size sedan SM6 recorded sales of 433 units, a 157.7% increase compared to the same period last year, continuing a trend of more than doubling sales for four consecutive months compared to the same month last year. The LE trim, which offers excellent cost-effectiveness, accounted for about 62% of total SM6 sales with 267 units, making it the most popular choice among consumers. By engine type, the TCe 260 model equipped with the 1.3L gasoline turbo engine jointly developed with Daimler accounted for more than half of total SM6 sales with 221 units.
The coupe-style sports utility vehicle (SUV) XM3 sold 1,303 units in August, a 17% increase compared to the same month last year. A notable feature of the XM3 is consumers' strong preference for premium specifications. In August, sales of the XM3 RE trim and above premium specifications reached 1,158 units, representing 89% of total sales. By engine type, the smooth and practical 1.6 GTe model accounted for 79% of sales with 1,029 units.
The mid-size SUV QM6 drove Renault Korea Motors' domestic sales performance with 2,196 units sold in August. The QM6 LPe model, which has been consistently loved as a family SUV by securing both space utilization and passenger safety through its patented LPG donut tank mounting system, accounted for about 75% of total QM6 sales with 1,650 units. The LPG donut tank applied to Renault Korea Motors uses a steel plate that is harder yet lighter than the conventional cylindrical tank material, and the tank thickness has been reinforced by 15%, significantly improving safety.
The Renault brand model, the mid-size commercial vehicle Master, recorded sales of 18 units.

Renault Korea Motors’ exports in August increased by 80.9% year-on-year, with 7,672 units shipped. The XM3 (export name Renault New Arkana) accounted for 60% of total exports with 3,602 units of the hybrid model scheduled for domestic release this fall, out of a total export volume of 5,968 units. The QM6 (export name Renault Koleos) also maintained steady export performance with 1,600 units shipped.
