[Asia Economy Reporter Seongpil Cho] The National Police Agency's National Investigation Headquarters announced on the 1st that it is accepting applications for the selection of specialized investigators until the 15th of this month.
Since 2005, the police have implemented a system that certifies police officers with a certain level of experience and ability in specific investigative fields as specialized investigators, giving them preferential treatment in personnel assignments and other areas. To date, 4,292 investigators across 100 fields hold 5,043 certifications as specialized investigators.

This year, the specialized investigator certifications have been expanded to 103 fields with the addition of three new areas: Internet of Things (IoT) device forensics, malware forensics, and unnatural death cases. Among police officers who have acquired investigative experience, certification is granted based on a comprehensive evaluation of ▲work experience in the relevant field ▲performance in the specific field ▲completion of specialized training courses at the Police Investigation Academy. The announcement of successful candidates will be made on November 1.
