Dispatch of Digital Government Cooperation Delegation to Laos and Cambodia until the 5th
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] Digital government cooperation between South Korea and ASEAN countries such as Laos and Cambodia will be further expanded.
On the 1st, the Ministry of the Interior and Safety dispatched a "Digital Government Cooperation Delegation" led by Vice Minister Han Chang-seop to Laos and Cambodia until the 5th. Several public institutions, including the Korea Minting and Security Printing Corporation, Korea Employment Information Service, Korea Local Information Research & Development Institute, and National Information Society Agency, are participating in this delegation.
In Laos, Vice Minister Han Chang-seop met with Santa Suk Simmalabong, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Technology and Communications of Laos, to sign a memorandum of understanding to officially start cooperation in the digital government sector and discuss plans to establish a Korea-Laos Digital Government Cooperation Center with the Ministry of Technology and Communications. Following this, the delegation held a seminar to share the latest trends in digital government between the two countries, introducing Korea's excellent digital government cases to Laotian officials and experts in charge of digital government and assessing the progress of Laos's digital government initiatives.
In Cambodia, a bilateral meeting was held with Chiet Bandet, Minister of the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications, to review the operation status and achievements of the Korea-Cambodia Digital Government Cooperation Center established last year and explore ways to expand cooperation. On the 5th, the Ministry of the Interior and Safety and Cambodia's Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications will jointly hold the "Korea-Cambodia Digital Government Cooperation Forum." Approximately 200 participants, including digital government officials from all Cambodian ministries and local governments, as well as experts from academia and industry, will attend.

Additionally, the delegation will visit the Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training, which introduced an employment information system through Korea-Cambodia cooperation projects from 2018 to 2021, to inspect its operation site and discuss new cooperation demands. Vice Minister Han Chang-seop stated, "We will expand cooperation in the digital government sector with Laos and Cambodia, key partner countries in the ASEAN region, to lead the world with Korea's digital platform government and lay the foundation for our companies to advance overseas."
