View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Su-yeon] The Korea Communications Commission announced that Vice Chairman Ahn Hyung-hwan attended the international conference hosted by the Asia Video Industry Association (AVIA) held on the 30th at the Westin Chosun Hotel in Sogong-dong, Seoul.
AVIA originated from CASBAA, established in 1991 by pay-TV operators such as satellite and cable broadcasters in the Asia region, and currently is an organization comprising media operators from the Asia-Pacific region including the United States.
At this international conference, under the theme "Korea in View," domestic and international media stakeholders gathered to discuss topics such as "The Status of Asian Media," "Changes in Korean Content in the Streaming Era," and "Changes in the Korean Online Video Service (OTT) Market."
Vice Chairman Ahn delivered a congratulatory speech following the opening remarks by Louis Boswell, AVIA Chairman. He also gave a keynote talk in a 15-minute dialogue format with Celeste Campbell-Pitt, AVIA Chief Policy Officer, focusing on "Changes and Responses in the Streaming Era."

In his congratulatory speech, Vice Chairman Ahn stated, "While the growth of OTT presents an opportunity for the content industry to expand, it also poses new challenges that cause legacy media to feel a sense of crisis. The Korea Communications Commission is preparing the 'Audiovisual Media Services Act,' which encompasses both legacy media and new media such as OTT, and is promoting innovative deregulation of outdated advertising and programming regulations."
