[2023 Early Admission] Chosun University Medical Department Recruitment... Some Screening Processes Remove Interviews
Chosun University selects 79.5% (3,762 students) of the total 4,730 applicants for the 2023 academic year through early admission. Starting this year, medical-related freshmen will also be recruited through the early comprehensive student record general admission.
The number of recruits by early admission type is △Student Record Curriculum 2,326 △Student Record Comprehensive 1,113 △Practical/Performance-based 323. This year, the early admission introduces the Student Record Curriculum (Social Integration Track) and Student Record Curriculum (Regional Opportunity Balance), and the name of Student Record Curriculum (Adult Learner Track) changes to Lifelong Learner Track.
From this year’s early admission, some tracks will no longer require interviews. Interviews will not be conducted for the College of Education, Pre-Medicine, and Pre-Dentistry in the Student Record Curriculum (General Track), and for the Music Education Department in the Practical/Performance (Practical Track).
The method of calculating school records for Student Record Curriculum and Practical/Performance-based tracks will change. From the 2023 academic year, graduates’ school records will be reflected only up to the first semester of the third year of high school, just like prospective graduates. Also, the achievement level of career elective subjects will be reflected by the top three subjects among the reflected courses. The achievement level scores for career elective subjects will change in 2023 as follows: A is 10 points, B is 9.5 points, and C is 9 points.
The admission types for medical-related fields will also be partially changed. Chosun University will newly recruit medical-related students through the Student Record Comprehensive (General Track) in 2023. In 2022, freshmen for Pre-Medicine, Pre-Dentistry, and Pharmacy were selected through the Student Record Comprehensive (Regional Talent Track), but in 2023, they will be selected through the Student Record Curriculum (Regional Talent Track).
The minimum CSAT (College Scholastic Ability Test) score requirements for medical-related fields will be relaxed and applied differently by admission type. For Pre-Medicine and Pre-Dentistry, the minimum CSAT requirement changes to a combined score of grade 3 across three subjects: Korean, Math (Calculus or Geometry), English, and Science (one science subject). However, for Pre-Medicine, Math (one subject chosen from Calculus or Geometry) is mandatory.
