Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries Strengthens Safety Accident Prevention for Foreign Workers
Launch of the 'Foreign Workers Safety and Health Council' on the 29th
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Jae-kyung] Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries has decided to strengthen efforts to prevent safety accidents in line with the increase of foreign workers from partner companies within the company.
On the 29th, Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries officially launched the 'Foreign Workers Safety and Health Council' at the company support center.
The 'Foreign Workers Safety and Health Council' was organized to hold meetings twice a year under the supervision of production and safety and health executives to listen to the opinions of foreign workers regarding safety and health and to derive improvement measures.
Foreign workers from Vietnam, Uzbekistan, Nepal, and other countries are scheduled to participate in this council in turn.
Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries has taken direct responsibility for the safety of foreign workers in anticipation of a significant increase in foreign workers due to the expected relaxation of visa regulations in the future, aiming to prevent their exposure to safety accidents.
According to one statistic, the proportion of foreign workers among serious accident fatalities in Korea in 2021 was more than three times higher than that of domestic workers.
Currently, about 1,500 foreign workers are employed at partner companies within Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries, and an additional 500 workers are expected to join in the second half of this year.
A Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries official stated, "We will do our best to prevent safety accidents by expanding communication with foreign workers."
