ENPlus Receives Global Top-Grade Certification for Battery Explosion Prevention Material... "Reduced Electric Vehicle Fire Risk"
[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Hyowon] ENPlus's secondary battery and ESS material, 'thermal gap filler,' has proven its excellent product safety by obtaining the UL-94 certification in the United States. On the 29th, ENPlus announced that it received the highest flame retardant certification grade, 'V-0,' for its thermal gap filler (GF-300) from the global safety certification authority UL (Underwriters Laboratory).
The UL-94 certification is a standard for product safety of industrial goods developed and certified by UL, the first safety standard certification body in the U.S., and is used as a global safety standard including in the U.S. ENPlus's thermal gap filler demonstrated excellent flame retardancy by self-extinguishing within 30 seconds when ignited during testing.
ENPlus's thermal gap filler is a secondary battery thermal material applied between the battery cell and housing to minimize heat transfer interference caused by air or foreign substances. It has the advantage of reducing fire risk by preventing ignition and explosion caused by heat generation during battery charging and discharging, as well as overcurrent or leakage current.
ENPlus plans to continue acquiring various global certifications based on essential ISO 9001 (International Quality Management System), 14001 (International Environmental Management System), and 45001 (International Occupational Health and Safety Management System) certifications for the production and quality system of the thermal gap filler, which are customer approval standards. The company explained that it intends to supply thermal gap fillers to global ESS and secondary battery companies based on its excellent product competitiveness.
An ENPlus official stated, “As the electric vehicle market rapidly grows, the thermal management market is expected to expand further, and we pursued UL-94 certification to proactively respond to various safety standard requirements from global automakers. With the acquisition of the UL-94 certification, the excellent safety of our product has been externally verified, so we expect strengthened competitiveness in securing orders.”
He added, “We will continue active sales activities and do our best to secure new customers. Starting mass production of the thermal gap filler this month, we expect sales expansion in the secondary battery business, which is a new growth engine.”

Last month, ENPlus established thermal gap filler facilities in the Gimje Free Trade Zone and successfully held a completion ceremony. ENPlus's thermal gap filler factory can produce and supply 2,500 tons of thermal materials for secondary batteries annually. An additional mass production plant for secondary battery materials is also scheduled to be completed by September.
