Micron Sells DDR5 Server DRAM 1.5 Times Faster Than DDR4
Sales Targeting Commercial and Industrial Channel Partners
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Pyeonghwa] American semiconductor company Micron Technology announced on the 29th that it will sell its DDR5 server DRAM to commercial and industrial channel partners.
Micron's new server DDR5 memory has an initial launch speed of 4800MT/s, which is 1.5 times faster than DDR4 modules with a speed of 3200MT/s. The module bandwidth is approximately 1.87 times wider. Micron emphasized that this new DDR5 DRAM product can reach speeds of 5600 to 6400MT/s in the future. It is suitable for artificial intelligence (AI), high-performance computing (HPC), and data-intensive applications that require large CPU computing capacity and memory bandwidth.
Teresa Kelly, Vice President and General Manager of Micron's Commercial Products Group, said, "Micron DDR5 server DRAM provides excellent bandwidth, enabling it to handle memory intensive applications," adding, "Micron is at the forefront of DDR5 memory technology evolution and is committed to supporting data center customers and channel partners in validating and preparing server DDR5 DRAM."
